2/17/11 Four precious pups

I somewhat felt Amami could be due in a few days after seeing her huge tummy and also I could see those pups inside were so active. I woke up little late because of the doctors appointment but....they canceled my appointment in last mintes. So decided to go to work.

I came home around 6:30pm, as soon as I got our from the garage, I could hear Amami crying from outside. I was like ???? As soon as I opened the front door, poor Amami was little panic mode. Immediately after she got out from her cage, I could tell she was having contruction! and she was looking for where she can whelp. She did not want me to leave she just look for me. So guided her to the bathroom where the whelping box is. Somehow Chapa got in....then Amami followed him! I let Chapa got out then.....Amami finally settled in. I had to run to get blankets & towels for her to relax. I tried feed Amami was she didnot have appetite so fed Chapa.
No time for me to eat or drink at all cause Amami didnt wanna me to go anywhere.

I prepared a chair and print out, I sat by Amami and just go through the print out what I got from Amami's breeder. I repeatedly read again & again. Amami's contruction was kinda advance stage. I prepared water for her.....in case she might want to drink.

She started breathing faster.....I told her "push" she looked at me ?? but as I told her to push then she did. Chaparrito was so curious and he wanted my attention but he well behaved and stayed by the Whelping box without barking. A few hours of push, WOW the first baby was born @9:56pm. I felt sorta big....and tried to help her to break the sack. We did work together! She licked the pup's face and I used a bulb to suck water out from him nose & mouth. Also I hold his body and from the up to down shaked. I have no idea how to describe but tried to get water out. Placenta was not out so it was little difficult to cut the cord but I did it anyway. If I did not react quick enough this pup might loose his life.

I was not so sure if Amami could start nursing him so I went to kitchen to make a goat milk.....sooner later I returned I saw a black object behind of her.......OMG!!! it was not a black object it was the second pup in a sack! I told Amami "break the sack" So I tried to break it then Amami joined. She was so busy taking care of the first one. To compare with the first time, the second one is not big as the first one. I tried to take water out from but it was not successful. So I decided to suck water out as using my mouth! No time to think that anything else. I just wanted to save this pup. Not for sure exact time of this pup but I noted as 10:26pm. Little break for Amami, while she is trying to clean up her two pups, I gave her water......and also gave her Nutri cal, little dried food. She ate some!!!! I checked the first & second are boys!

After she was getting relaxed, she started another contruction! Amami did good job, the third one was born @11:12pm. I bet she was exhausted.....this little one was much smaller than the first one. I was little scared of the fact Amami might eat a pup! so I gave Nutri Cal in between labor & fed her with some dried food. She looked so exhausted...... another contruction......I was getting tired.....but so she was. Another contruction ......Amami pushed & pushed.....the fourth pup was born @12:05am of the 18th!!! Amami gave birth to two boys & two girls! This girl is much smaller than other 3 pups.

The first boy in yellow coller weights: 8.7 oz
The second boy in blue coller weights: 8 oz
The first girl in pink coller weights: 7.4 oz
The second girl in red coller weights: 7.2 oz

So amazing....they know what to do and so as Amami! After the deliveries of pups, all what she wanted to do was rest. So I cleaned up as much as possible removing all wet towels & newspaer. Let them rest. It was already passed 3am. I am tired....need to rest little.
